Yury Belov Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Scholarship benefitting School of Drama students demonstrating outstanding talent and potential.
Several of Yury Belov’s former students in the School of Drama approached the Office of Advancement about creating this scholarship in Yury’s memory because of his “unwavering belief in the students. He was a genius for seeing what was special about every young person he worked with.” Yury taught at the School of the Arts from 1982- 1997, after being exiled from the former Soviet Union. He specialized in the Stanislavski techniques and comedy acting. In Russia, he was the director of clowning at the Moscow State Circus, artistic director of the Moscow Clown Pantomime Theatre and the Moscow State Music Hall Company. His former students are establishing this scholarship to ensure the spirit of his work continues on.
