The Dewitt Chatham Hanes Educational Endowed Fund

Supports scholarships for High School and Undergraduate studnets in each of the five Arts Schools.

Established by John W. Hanes in honor of his sister-in-law, DeWitt Chatham Hanes, and in memory of his niece, Joan H. Hanes. BothDeWitt and Joan, in a quiet way contributed immeasurably not only to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts but also to other public and private endeaveors which enhanced the arts, but also the substancial enhancement of the fullness and quality of life of many people who shared their aquaintance. It was the grantors hope that this fund would perpetuate the memory and good works of these two outstanding ladies.
