Maryanne Arena Endowed Scholarship

Scholarship benefitting students in the School of Drama demonstrating outstanding talent and potential with a preference to out-of-state students.

Established by Norman Gayford and Mary Conable in 2018 to create a merit-based scholarship in UNCSA’s School of Drama. As Director of Fine and Performing Arts at Genesee Community College in Batavia, New York, for 14 years, Maryanne Arena has brought meaningful theatre training to a diverse range of students. She brings authentic vulnerability to her students, sharing her experiences as a professionally trained actor, a teacher, a police officer, and an entrepreneur. This scholarship honors her commitment to theater as a vital contributor to the college and broader community and her support of students who pursue further training.
