Martha Schumacher DeLaurentiis Endowment

Supports scholarships for exceptionally talented UNCSA students.

Established by the final proceeds of the benefit premiere of “The Bedroom Window”, a De Laurentiis Entertainment Group motion picture in honor of Martha Schumacher. “The Bedroom Window”, a romantic thriller premiered at the Stevens Center of the Univeristy of North Carolina School of the Arts as a benefit for UNCSA on January 14, 1987. After the Stevens Center premiere the movie showed at theatres across the country. “The Bedroom Window” starred Steve Guttenburg and Elizabeth McGovern who both attended the Stevens Center Premiere along with Ms. Schumacher and Director Curtis Hanson, who also wrote the screenplay. Ms. Schumacher made her producing debut on Stephen King’s “Cat’s Eye”, followed by “Silver Bullet”. Martha met Dine De Laurentiis on “Ragtime”, followed by Amityeille II: The Possession" and “Amityville 3D”. Martha served as associate producer of “Firestarter”. Ms. Schumacher sprearheaded and oversaw the purchase, construction and operation of the De Laurentiis Entertainment Group Studios in Wilmingon, N.C. In 1996 Martha Schumacher asked for the name of the fund to be changed from the Martha DeLaurentiis Schumacher Endowed Scholarship to the Martha Schumacher DeLaurentiis Endowed Scholarship.
