John Marsden Ehle, Jr. Endowed Scholarship Fund
Scholarships for promissing high school students studying in the School of Music.
The John Marsden Ehle, Jr. Scholarship, was established in 1990, by a challenge grant from The Kathleen Price and Joseph M. Bryan Family Foundation. The challenge was met through gifts from multiple donors, primarily Anne Cannon Forsyth and the Fund, and announced at commencement, May 26, 1990. The original purpose of the Fund was to provide scholarships for North Carolina high school students to attend the University North Carolina School of the Arts. In 2001 the N.C. state legislature mandated that all North Carolina high school students would attend UNCSA free, making the purpose of the Fund unavailable to award. In addition, The Kathleen Price and Joseph M. Bryan Family Foundation ceased to exist years ago and Anne Cannon Forsyth died May 11, 2003. In order to allow UNCSA to award the John Marsden Ehle, Jr. Scholarship, beginning in 2005-2006, the criteria for selection must be changed and the Foundation looked to John Marsden Ehle, Jr. for direction in this matter.
