Hector Manuel Lopez, Jr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Funds support need-based scholarships for UNCSA students at every level: a tribute to the love Hector had for every student at UNCSA.

Established in 2024 by William and Judith Watson, this scholarship permanently honors Hector Lopez and his long history of connection with our students and service to our community.

Hector Lopez was a beloved part of the Dining Services team for more than a dozen years. He started at UNCSA in the Pickle Jar, and his services were soon requested in the Dining Hall. His dishes made at the “Hector’s Home Cooking” station at the Chef’s Table were favorites.

A bright light in our Dining family, Hector made it a priority to connect with students and everyone who dined in the Dining Hall. He approached his job with enthusiasm, and it made an unforgettable impact on all who knew him. Hector passed away unexpectedly on June 12, 2024.
