Impact

When I was little, I dreamt that my superpower would be that of a master polyglot. I would be able to speak and read every language, every dialect, and know all the vernacular nuances. I wanted this power so that there would never be a barrier to the stories I could hear and tell. I grew up as an adopted child to a family who should have never adopted. My stomping ground was in the small agricultural and manufacturing town in North Carolina. I religiously watched the National Geographic channel to learn whatever I could outside of my own experience. I memorized the names and locations of every country in the world so that I could always be aware of my place in the world, and the places I had yet to go. As I became more cognizant of these places, I found an affinity between storytelling and the world. I began to write as a form of escape but wished to see the stories translated into images. Thus, I found my superpower when I discovered screenwriting. If this is my superpower, then scholarships such as these are the relics which maintain it. Thank you so much for supporting my artistic endeavors.
