Created to honor Dale Pollock’s leadership and to provide financial support for UNCSA student films. More than 250 student films, between 5 and 15 minutes in length, are created at the UNCSA School of Filmmaking every year. Students work in all film formats, from digital video to Super 16mm. Unlike students at other film schools, UNCSA’s students are not required to raise the funds for completion of their films, including their expensive senior thesis projects, since the UNCSA School of Filmmaking supplies all equipment and film costs, including a cash budget, to each student production team. This unique way of covering the budgets for student films is one of the significant keys to the success of UNCSA’s program; however, this means much of the School of Filmmaking’s fundraising has been focused on these student film production costs.
